This new FIBArk river event is a must see. FIBArk Raft Cross includes endurance, speed, and agility as raft teams race head-to-head amidst upriver and downriver gates through the Salida Whitewater Park. Gates are not the only obstacles racers will navigate, watch out as kayakers try to run teams off their lines.

Athletes must always wear their competitor bib outside their PFD.

Bibs will be collected at the end of the race.
rules& regulations

Every team member must sign a waiver. Waivers can be completed when registering. Pick up your T-shirt and bib in person at the FIBArk Registration tent.

Athletes must have one bib per team and waivers signed before meeting at the Hooligan put-in.

Athletes must be ready to race at the Hooligan put-in at least 15 minutes before the start of the event.

Athletes will be placed in race heats or heats of no more than three boats. The final number of heats will be determined on the day of the race in accordance with the total number of athletes registered for the race.

The race will begin in a land start format at the Hooligan put in and end at F Street Bridge. The takeout is downriver about 50 yards on the river left. The takeout is before the Scout Wave.

Athletes should dress appropriately for Colorado weather conditions and frigid river temperature for June. Dry tops and pants, dry suit, wetsuit, and non-cotton clothing is recommended.

Final race rules and format will be available during the safety meeting.

Rafters will have to navigate around no less than two 2 upstream or downstream gates.

Both team members must be in the boat and get around the gate.

Any intentional contact with the gate will result in a penalty or disqualification.

A raft’s finish will be official when the entire raft crosses the finish line.

Both hands must remain on the paddle at all times.
-
Competitors may NOT throw their paddle to finish the line.

No intentional grabbing, shoving, hitting or horseplay will be allowed. Unsporting conduct may result in disqualification.

Top finishers will advance to the next round. Number of racers advancing in each round will be determined on race day. Rounds will continue until a winner is determined.

Bumping other rafts is allowed. Kayakers may steer a raft off their line.
